4th of July

Happy 4th of July to everyone!! I am so grateful that Lindsey, Westley, and I live in this beautiful country.  It may not be perfect but we have our liberty.  This past week we were able to celebrate our Independence Day by sitting on our front porch and watching the 4th of July parade pass our front yard.  It was so much fun to see and Westley definitely enjoyed it as you can see from the picture.  He likes a lot of noise and trust me there was a lot of noise.  He falls asleep to loud commotion every time.

After the parade we decided to go get some frozen yogurt at our favorite place in town, Kiwi Loco.  It was just an all around fun day.  The only complaint would be how hot it was.  I wish we had a pool or could visit a relative’s pool or something.  Oh well, not many people expect it to get up in the 90’s in Rexburg, so why have a pool.

I am so proud to say that in two weeks, Lindsey will be graduating.  Westley and I are so proud of her and I am very impressed with how she does so well in her classes and takes great care of Westley.  We are so blessed to have her in our family.

It’s going to be a hot, hard, last two weeks of school, with finals coming up.  I am ready to finish a few of my classes.  I have enjoyed them so much, but I can’t wait to continue on to other interesting things.  We are also very excited for our move to Iowa, after the semester is over.  We’ll be there until January and then we’ll move back to Rexburg for me to finish school.  I can’t wait to graduate myself.

I forgot to mention our 4th of July pizza, here’s a picture….

A Week of Craziness

Hello from Idaho! Not for long though. In all of the hectic business of apartment searching, an option came up that we didn't expect. A family friend asked my mom how we were doing and she expressed our frustration about finding a place. The friend offered for us, if we were considering coming home since we don't have school the next five months, to rent part of her house. What a blessing! We think it will be much easier for Chris to get a job in Des Moines and we hopefully will be able to save up a little for next year's school terms. I'm excited to spend time with my family as well. It will be a blessing all around. Everything has fallen into place, so we have started packing already!

(This is where we are going - actually about 15 minutes north of it anyhow! Iowa is my favorite state!)

Westley has had an eventful week. He got his 2-month shots on Thursday. The experience just proved what a wonderfully sweet baby he is. I fed him just before so he was sleeping soundly when we got to the doctor. The nurses doted over him the whole time, commenting on what a well-behaved baby he was. Turns out he has gained a little over three pounds and five inches on height!

The nurses came in to do the dirty work of giving him a series of shots, and I was very impressed with how efficient and kind they were about it. They had a nurse for each leg, with a quick stab and swipe of a band-aid, and it was all done! He was startled out of his sleep more than anything. He screamed for a brief second and then whimpered quietly for a little bit before falling asleep again. He hardly fussed all day but was very tired, so I snuggled with him most of the time. In the evening, he had a fever, so I gave him some Tylenol. He then slept almost all the way through the night. He is feeling much better now and delights Mommy and Daddy with his smiles and "coo"s a lot. In fact, he is sitting on Chris's lap right now and grinning up at us.

We are getting antsy for the week of the 15th to get here... because that means GRADUATION for Lindsey!!! Commencement and convocation are on the 20th. Hooray, hooray! We will be moving to Iowa on the 23rd, so it will be a whirlwind of activity. Wish us luck!
